Shangri-la Golf is a unique place, set in Gandarilla, a hamlet of San Vicente de la Barquera, in a small valley surrounded by mountains.
The course is pure nature, with more than 1,000 trees that, besides making life harder for players, are an explosion of colour and freshness, especially in late summer and autumn, when the maples start to show their reddish tones.
The wildlife is another of the course's attractions. Its 10 lakes are a refuge for ducks, geese, swans and herons, as well as wild boar, deer and other wild species. All of them waiting to collect the stray player's last ball.
Location
The estate sits on top of a hill at the entrance to Gandarilla.
From San Vicente de la Barquera you can head towards the A8 motorway but, instead of joining it, cross underneath towards La Acebosa and continue along the CA-843 past Hortigal, where you take the turn-off to Gandarilla on the CA-846.
Just past the village entrance, a little before number 14 on the CA-846, turn right up a very steep slope, and 100 metres further on you will find the entrance to the golf course.
